Privacy Policy

Military Benefits Academy ("we," "us") runs military-benefits.academy, a free service that passes insurance quote requests to EverQuote, Inc. and its partners. This policy explains what we collect, what we do with it and the choices you have. The company behind this site is TODO: company legal name, TODO: mailing address.
The short version. When you ask for quotes, your answers go to EverQuote and the companies on its partner list so they can contact you. That's the service. We don't keep a copy of your full answers after sending them. We keep a consent record for five years in case anyone needs proof that you agreed to be contacted.
Notice at collection
This section tells you, at the point we collect it, what we collect and why.
What you tell us in the quote form
- Contact details: name, street address, city, state, ZIP code, email and phone number.
- Personal details insurers use for pricing: date of birth, gender, marital status, a self-rated credit range and your connection to the military.
- Vehicle details: year, make, model, whether you own, finance or lease, and yearly miles.
- Driving and insurance history: your current insurer, how long you've been insured, and accidents, tickets or claims you report.
- Other drivers you add: first name, date of birth, gender and how they're related to you. Only add people who are fine with that.
- Home details: type of home, how you use it, year built, size, safety features, current insurer and past claims.
What we collect automatically
- Device and browser information, IP address, the pages you visit and the ad or link that brought you here.
- A record of how the form was filled in. If they're switched on, TrustedForm (by ActiveProspect) and Jornaya (by Verisk) record your session on the quote form, including what you type and click, and give it an ID. Insurers use that record to confirm you agreed to be contacted. Those companies keep the recordings under their own policies.
- Cookies and similar tags, described under "Cookies and ads" below.
Why we collect it
- To send your quote request to EverQuote and its partners when you click "Get my quotes."
- To keep proof that you agreed to be contacted.
- To block bots and fraud.
- To measure which ads and pages work, and to fix the form where people get stuck.
- To follow the law and answer legal requests.
We don't check your credit, and the credit range you pick is only your own estimate. We don't collect Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers or payment details.
Who we share it with
EverQuote and its partners, at your direction
When you click "Get my quotes," you tell us to send your answers to EverQuote, Inc. EverQuote shares them with insurers, agents and other companies on its partner list, which may call, text or email you about insurance. We are paid when you send a request. That payment is how the site stays free.
Service providers
Companies that run parts of the site for us, under contract and only for that purpose: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (consent records), Cloudflare (bot checks), PostHog (site analytics), ActiveProspect and Verisk (consent certificates).
Advertising partners
If you haven't opted out, a Meta pixel tells Meta (Facebook and Instagram) that someone visited from an ad and when a quote request was sent. It does not receive your answers, name, email or phone number. See "Cookies and ads."
When the law requires it
To respond to valid legal process, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of this business.
"Selling" and "sharing" under state privacy laws
California and several other states use broad definitions of "selling" and "sharing" personal information. Because insurers and EverQuote pay us when you request quotes, and because we use an ad pixel, some of what we do may count as selling or sharing under those laws. You have the right to opt out. Use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser and we'll treat that as an opt-out.
Opting out stops our ad pixel and any future sale or sharing. A request you already sent stays with EverQuote and its partners. To stop hearing from them, use the steps under "Your choices."
Cookies and ads
We use a few cookies and similar tools. Some keep the form working, like remembering your answers if the page reloads (stored in your browser only, never your name, street address, email, phone number or any date of birth). Others measure ads (Meta pixel) and site use (PostHog). We turn off Meta's automatic event collection, so the pixel doesn't read form fields or button text. You can block cookies in your browser settings and the form will still work.
How long we keep it
- Your full answers: we don't store them. They pass through our server to EverQuote when you click "Get my quotes."
- Consent records: five years. Each record has the exact consent wording you saw, the time, your IP address and browser, certificate IDs, the state and ZIP code, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your phone and email that lets us match a complaint to a record without storing the number or address itself.
- Analytics: kept by PostHog under its retention settings. It holds page views and which question someone reached, never your answers or contact details.
- Short-term technical logs kept by our hosting provider for security.
Your choices
Stop calls, texts and emails
Reply STOP to any text. Tell any caller to put you on their do-not-call list. Use the unsubscribe link in any email. You can also email privacy@military-benefits.academy and we'll pass your request to EverQuote within 10 business days.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what we hold about you, get a copy, correct it, delete it, and opt out of selling, sharing and targeted ads. Email privacy@military-benefits.academy with your request. We'll confirm we received it within 10 business days and answer within 45 days. We'll ask you to confirm some details so we know the request is really from you. An authorized agent can make a request for you with your signed permission. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
Security
Everything you send travels over an encrypted connection. Our server checks every request, rejects bots, and keeps no copy of your answers. Consent records store hashed contact details, and only we can access them. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise nothing will ever go wrong.
Children
This site is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Changes
When we change this policy we'll post the new version here with a new date.
